Harsh Ceramics

About

I’m Harsh, a ceramist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pottery began as a creative escape from a fast-paced professional career and quickly became something much more—a practice of slowing down, paying attention, and creating objects that are meant to be held, used, and enjoyed every day.

I work primarily with porcelain, creating contemporary functional ceramics inspired by architecture, geometry, and the quiet beauty of natural forms. I’m drawn to clean silhouettes, subtle textures, and restrained color palettes that allow the shape of each piece to take center stage. My work embraces simplicity—not as the absence of detail, but as the careful refinement of what truly matters.

Every piece is handmade in small batches. I particularly enjoy working with soft matte finishes that reveal the character of the clay while adding warmth and depth. The firing process introduces subtle variations in color and texture, ensuring that every piece is genuinely one of a kind.

For me, ceramics is an exercise in patience and presence. Clay has a way of reminding us that beautiful things take time. Each stage—from throwing and trimming to glazing and firing—requires care, intention, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected. Those moments are what make handmade ceramics so meaningful.

I hope my work brings a sense of calm and connection into your home. Whether it’s your morning coffee, a shared meal with family, or flowers gathered from the garden, I believe everyday rituals deserve objects that are thoughtfully made and built to last.

Thank you for supporting handmade craftsmanship. It means the world to know that something created in my studio becomes part of your everyday life and your story.
